April : Month of Interviews - KPM (DEC) + UiTM (TESL)

Assalamualaikum. It's been two months since my first update because i dont have any ideas and bila ada, pemalas ya ampun hehe. So I'm here to finally update my latest lifeabouts masa April ritu eventhough May has already been like three days. Before anything, welcome to May ! It's currently 00:43.

Okay, long intro short - this entry is about my experiences went through two interviews for the courses I applied to further my tertiary studies.

@ UiTM Dengkil

Firstly, interview for Kolej Profesional MARA (KPM), course - Diploma in English Communication (DEC)(click for further infos). I was called for the interview on May, 5th at 9.00 a.m. My two other friends from MRSM Merbok were also scheduled for the same day and time for the interview. A girl, Amnani and a boy, Haiman. Amnani ni awal-awal dah settle. I purposedly datang lambat sikit sebab I thought my name on the list tu hujung-hujung akan jadi lambatlah. Rupanya tak. Nasib baik when I arrived there, Haiman ada, tengah beratur. Tak susun ikut nama pun, so Haiman dengan I decided untuk team up sebab kitorang nervous excited haha.

Beratur sesama, daftar amik number giliran. Grouping system dia berempat so in that team, ada me, Haiman, sorang laki, and perempuan. Both of them tak ingat nama sebab tak berkenalan pun luls. Ok cut story, masa masuk dalam bilik temuduga tu okay je. Masa kitorang tunggu group before, boleh tahan lama, cuaklah ingatkan panel-panel kitorang ni jenis banyak soal susah-susah ke apa. Turned out they were so friendly. Soalan pun Alhamdulillah, boleh jawab. Note that this course is English Communication so soalan-soalan dia boleh agaklah supposedly. Like "In your opinion, do really by learning English or any other language as second language is the main reason to our mother toungue getting destroyed ?", "How would you encourage younger generations to learn English ?"and lain-lain. Basically, you've to prepare with studies and researches about English as a language for communication lah. Soalan lain yang mungkin killer, "Why you chose to further this course at KPM instead of any other institutions?". Okay tu je for KPM - DEC iv.

Lil' update : Two days after the iv, the result was out and all of us (me and my two other friends) FAILED. Me and Haiman buat rayuan. Amnani tak sure.

And then this second iv came from the one I applied on UPU. I was determined since the very first time, putting this course as my most targeted course lah senang cerita. My interview for UiTM - Teaching English as Second Language (TESL) course was scheduled on April, 29th at 2.00 p.m. This interview was split into two parts - writing test and interview.

For the writing test, lemme tell you macam examination dekat sekolah je, ada Reading Comprehension boleh tahan hebat jugak english yang digunapakai and Essay of 250 words. Time allowed for the whole test is 1 hour with 30 minutes supposedly focus on essay je. The title that I got for the essay was the 'Disadvantages of Internet'. My main problem is bukan masalah nak mengerah idea. Idea keluar macam air je, tapi since dah berbulan-bulan tak asah essay writing skills my writing skills is so fucked up i remember i wrote like primary 6 punya essay je so the whole essay biasa-biasa je lah haha.

Since my name was second on the list of my group (panel 6) so everything went like smoothly fast like later I ask myself, "Aku dah habis interview ke ni ?" hahaha. Ni bukan bragging tau, tapi like seriously.

Okay, since benda ni pun baru je lagi, so everything is still fresh on my memory.

When you enter the room after the bell rings, bagi salam, hand in your file of certificates, letter and form from UiTM website and IC dekat panel. Seat only after you are asked to. #tipsteslinterview luls.

Panel Interviewer : So, tell me about yourself.

Me : My name is 'Adane', I'm from Bangi and previously I'm from MRSM Merbok.

so short lah HAHA pls dont be like me. time ni cam nervous baru nak reda.

P.I : Is that all ?

Me : I think so.

P.I : Okay, how about you tell us about your family, what is your mom's and dad's occupation ?

Me : My mom works at Hospital UKM in Cheras. Her position has something to do with um 'kewangan' ? Ok, time ni gelabah gila pahal tetiba boleh terlupa FINANCIAL OFFICER ei.

P.I : Financial ?

Me : Ah ! Yes ! She's a financial officer. I forgot that term HAHAHA  Sorry.

P.I : AHAHAH haiya. Okay so proceed.

Me : And my dad is a freelancer.

P.I : What is that he do as a feelancer ?

Me : Translation, auditing and accounting.

P.I : Oh ! So, your dad must've been your biggest inspiration to take this course ?

Me : Yup ! Sometimes he tasked me to do some of the translations and I get some money from the work of translation that I've done.

P.I : I see... That's good, then. So, as I could see here referring to something she's looking at, your merit for academic is quite high but why is that you chose this course ? Why you chose TESL ?

Me : Because I had the passion to learn languages that is other than mother tounge especially English. I've always aimed for this course ever since I'm in Form 3.

P.I : Ehem, so what kind of book genre do you usually read ?

Me : Love okay sebenarnya TAK ! time ni blank gila and bendalah tu je keluar dari mulut ugh

P.I : Romance ?

Me : Ah, ahahahaha laugh shy-shy catlah kononnya !

P.I : Any specific author ?

Me : Nope. I'm the kind that read anything interesting.

P.I : As long as it's romance so you just read lah ? Hahaha !

Me : Uh-um ahahahaha shy-shy cat again euw !

P.I : What school were you from ?

Me : I'm from MRSM Merbok, Kedah since form 4. From form 1 until form 3, I'm from SMK Bandar Seri Putra as stated on my clear folder.

P.I : Is it a IGCSE based MRSM ?

Me : Nope, just a premiere MRSM.

P.I : Ah. So, you were a prefect ? Ahli Lembaga Disiplin Pelajar, hm ? reffering to my certficate

Me : Yup, for both schools. I've been a prefect since form 1. After I was offered to MRSM Merbok, I applied for the same position.

P.I : Okay. I think that's all from us. Is there anything that you would ask us ?

Me : Um, is there anything that you think I need to improvise ?

P.I : Look at me in funny (gurau) way No, i don't think so. You have the confidenct and are fluent in speaking this language. Think you're just doing great ! Keep it up !

Me : Hehehe gelak sukalah apa lagi ?! syiok knowing that I might had a big chance for this

P.I : Oh, btw, how was the test just now ?

Me : Quite tough for the RC part. It's like I was introduced to a whole new English !

P.I : Eh, I thought that was the normal English used for MRSM students ?

Me : Ah, I don't think so...

P.I : Hahaha, okay that's all.

Me : Thanks and bersalam-salaman dengan both interviewers

So, that was all. Fuh, panjangnya entry kalini ! Hopefully it helps lah wei. Typo ke apa semua tu pleaselah abaikan. Barai ni. Currently it's 2.00 a.m. How time flies ! Till we meet again.
